HIMOINSA reports record 2022 results, with a turnover of 350 million euros

Following what has been a significant increase in turnover compared to 2021, the company now expects sales to grow to 400 million euros in 2023, thanks to a major industrial expansion project to create new production centres, as well as investment plans and the implementation of projects on an international scale

In its recently published results for 2022, HIMOINSA, the benchmark company in the design and manufacture of power technology solutions, has declared a turnover of more than 350 million euros, with the following geographical distribution: Europe: 43%, America: 28%, Asia: 15%, Africa: 12% and the Middle East: 2%.
Against this background, HIMOINSA is expecting its sales to grow to as much as 400 million euros in 2023, thanks to a major industrial expansion project involving the creation of new production centres, as well as investment plans and the implementation of projects on an international scale.

The countries in which HIMOINSA has recorded the highest sales volumes in 2022 are the United States, Spain, Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil. Over the past year, the company has also undertaken major projects and expanded significantly in West Africa, Southeast Asia, North America and the Caribbean.

Over the course of 2022, HIMOINSA's workforce increased by more than 18% compared to the previous year, and it is expected to grow even more this year due to the incorporation of new employees in different areas.

In 2022, as part of the company's constant drive to develop new products, it implemented major R&D projects, increasing its investment by 20% compared to the previous year

Those R&D projects have included new developments in battery power generation and storage systems, hybrid lighting towers, gas-powered generation systems and new developments in electronics, thanks to the company's vertical integration in terms of hardware, software and firmware.

Francisco Gracia, HIMOINSA's President and CEO, has said that “2022 has been an excellent year for the company in spite of all the major external economic and socio-political factors we have had to deal with, such as the aftermath of the pandemic, inflation and problems in the supply of components and raw materials. Our success is all due to the efforts of the human team that makes up this organisation, because if there is one thing we are very proud of, it is the enormous commitment of our employees.”

    Sustainability | Electrification Strategy

At the end of 2022, the company presented its electrification strategy and its roadmap towards emissions reduction. In this context, the electrification of equipment, gas-powered generation, the use of alternative fuels such as HVO, as well as the new stage V diesel technology all go together to make up a complete range of power sources designed to offer the customer a comprehensive solution and increasingly reduce the carbon footprint. HIMOINSA, which has been part of the Yanmar group since 2015, is constantly reinforcing its industrial capacity and is working closely with Yanmar's R&D departments on developing new equipment.

“Our integration into Yanmar Energy System (YES) clearly shows how firmly we are committed to continuing to provide state-of-the-art solutions in the power generation sector, in line with the philosophy behind the Yanmar Green Challenge 2050” Francisco Gracia goes on to say.

As far as environmental measures, energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction are concerned, HIMOINSA is committed to guaranteeing the highest possible levels of energy efficiency at its facilities. That is why in 2022 it has installed a photovoltaic plant on the roofs of its factories in Spain. These solar panels have reduced the company's emissions by more than 22.25% and made a significant commitment to energy efficiency in its production processes.

    Industrial Project

HIMOINSA's industrial transformation is in a constant state of evolution and the firm is currently immersed in a major industrial project that entails both the expansion of its current production centres and the creation of new factories.

To this end, the company is preparing to commission a new production centre in Spain for the manufacture of battery-powered energy storage and distribution systems. This new project, yet another step in the energy transition that the company is pursuing, will introduce more sustainable solutions into the market by means of battery systems and hybrid equipment.

The company's industrial strategy is to consolidate its production centres by product type: generator sets, lighting towers and battery systems, and to continue working to continuously improve processes in each one.

One of the cornerstones of HIMOINSA's industrial project is its factory where it will make heavy-duty power generation systems, a new production centre for the manufacture of generator sets up to 3,500 kVA, which is due to open in the last quarter of this year

    Strategic Growth

HIMOINSA has set up new sales offices during the course of 2022, in an effort to expand its commercial activity and strengthen its positioning in strategic markets. It currently has twelve commercial subsidiaries and eight production centres, a figure that will grow considerably by 2023 if its industrial project is anything to go by.

Then again, not only has it set up logistics centres in Europe to increase its stock capacity in the region, but it has also opened a logistics hub in Togo from which it will now be able to market products to the member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), thereby consolidating its positioning and presence in West and Central Africa.

In terms of inorganic growth, in recent years the company has acquired several businesses involved in the power generation sector in order to strengthen its industrial, commercial and service capacity in different countries. In 2022, HIMOINSA acquired 75% of the share capital of Powersil, a Portuguese company dedicated to the commercialisation of generator sets and the design and manufacture of electrical panels and automatisms. HIMOINSA is currently immersed in other corporate acquisition processes that are due to be completed during 2023 and will allow the company to anticipate significant growth in the coming years.
