Reduce emissions, noise and operating costs with HIMOINSA’s new lighting tower, the HBOX+ HYBRID

The HBOX+ Hybrid combines a battery and diesel engine (Stage V) system, incorporating a smart control system that manages the hybrid system features, thus ensuring ease of use for any user.

HIMOINSA has developed a hybrid lighting tower that combines a battery and diesel engine, guaranteeing a considerable reduction in emissions, noise and operating costs. It is an ideal solution for events and working areas requiring low sound emissions and reduced CO2 emissions.

One of the key pillars of HIMOINSA’s product development strategy is to ensure the sustainability and connectivity of its Mobile Power equipment, mainly targeting the rental and construction sectors. In this regard, the new HBOX+ Hybrid lighting tower, which is powered by an LFP battery and Yanmar engine (Stage V), offers the advantages of a hybrid system in terms of carbon footprint reduction, without having to sacrifice the benefits of the 100% diesel version, including its ample wide lighting footprint, among other aspects.

“We have successfully designed a product that retains all the performance of the HBOX+ diesel version (6,400 m2 at 20 lux on average) while adding the competitive advantages of a battery-powered hybrid system,” says Miguel Ángel Ruiz, Global Engineering and Development Head

This is a versatile lighting tower that can operate in four different working modes, as required by the client at any given time, either in ‘electric’ (100% battery) or 100% ‘diesel’ operating mode, as well as in ‘hybrid’ mode (diesel and battery), or even powered by the grid or any other external power source (such as a generator set). Key to this new development is that “in none of the selected working modes is there a reduction in lighting capacity, even when the hybrid option is selected,” adds Ruiz.

    Carbon Footprint Reduction

One of the main objectives of the HBOX+ Hybrid is to reduce the level of emissions. This lighting tower can reduce up to 2600 kg/year of CO2, operating eight hours/day in hybrid mode. See more

Easy to Use | Peace of Mind

The HBOX+ Hybrid incorporates a smart control system that manages the hybrid system functions, thus ensuring ease of use for operators. The CET8 controller developed by HIMOINSA incorporates an assistant that guides the user for easy setup and operation. With just four clicks the system will be running at the point of maximum efficiency in each application.

The connectivity and remote control of the equipment is definitely guaranteed through the CET8 Hybrid APP, so that users can control the equipment from a smartphone, tablet or PC, and consult key indicators like battery status, fuel level, and service time, or even manage the equipment’s performance. They can decide, among other things, whether they want more running time or more lighting capacity in a very intuitive way by using the assistant. See more

    'Zero Noise' period

This equipment has been designed to offer the user the possibility of maximising battery operating time, minimising engine use, and thus guaranteeing as much ‘zero noise’ operating time as possible.

This period can be programmed, and the smart control system of the HBOX+ Hybrid will automatically manage the equipment’s best performance based on the hours defined by the user for this ‘zero noise’ period. An easy and intuitive management process that is carried out through the assistant integrated in the CET8 Hybrid controller. See more

Running Time |  Up to 16 continuous hours

The HBOX+ Hybrid provides a continuous running time of up to sixteen hours with zero emissions and zero noise. This hybrid lighting tower has an integrated dimming system that can automatically regulate the different variables (light intensity, battery running time, etc.) and select, in a flexible way, the best working mode according to each case.

For maximum light output (6,400 m2), the unit will offer a running time of 4 hours, guaranteeing zero emissions and zero noise (for units fitted with two batteries).

    Battery  Charging Time

Batteries can be charged using the external grid or the integrated back-up generator. Battery charging time is a bit over three hours, whether the generator or the grid is used. However, during this charging time, the HBOX+ Hybrid can continue to operate with the spotlights on to ensure non-stop operation if required.

Equipment | Efficiency and Best Performance

    1

Batteries: The HBOX+ Hybrid features LFP (lithium-ferrophosphate) batteries that are designed for a lifespan of 6000 cycles. One of the main advantages of LFP batteries is their extended running time, something not guaranteed with previous technology (AGM batteries). This is why HIMOINSA has opted for LFP lithium batteries for all its hybrid and 100% electric equipment. Their level of safety, in terms of chemical stability, is even higher than that of other batteries using lithium technology, such as NMC.

The HBOX+ Hybrid offers the option to include a second battery, doubling its storage capacity and minimising engine operating hours, which has a highly positive impact on OPEX optimisation, fuel consumption savings, and extending service intervals.

    2

LED lighting:  It incorporates 4 x 350W LED spotlights (50X50 SMD Chip Technology) and a Led Dimming Control that offers a progressive start to avoid glare during operation in road construction. Its hydraulic mast reaches a height of 8.3 metres and can rotate 360°, thus guaranteeing optimum light coverage. These spotlights have a lighting capacity of 120,000 lumens and can illuminate up to 6400 m2

    3

Yanmar engine:  It features a two-cylinder Yanmar engine, 2TNV 70 (Stage V Compliant), with optimised fuel consumption of less than 0.55l/h and extended maintenance intervals of up to 600 hours. These are competitive advantages of an engine designed by Yanmar, the parent company of HIMOINSA whose product developments are led by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers and technical experts who work to ensure the product’s highest possible efficiency and competitiveness.

The development of the HBOX+ Hybrid is without doubt a step forward in its strategy to develop a complete and innovative line of lighting towers. Of the new models being produced, HIMOINSA launched the HBOX+, followed by this hybrid version, and at the end of 2023 the company will also release new lighting tower models.
