Stage V & RoHS 2
As a leader in the power generation sector and committed as we are to doing all we can to respect the environment, HIMOINSA offers a complete range of diesel and gas powered generator sets and lighting towers with Stage V engines.
In addition, to reduce the use of polluting substances in electrical or electronic equipment in the European market, our generators comply with RoHS2, Directive 2011/65/EU.
Guidelines and timing for adapting to the new regulatory framework
- STAGE V: EU Regulation 2016/1628, which regulates the emission limits for gaseous and particulate pollutants for internal combustion engines installed in non-road mobile machinery (NRMM).
- RoHS2: Directive 2011/65/EU, which establishes restrictions on the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE); designed for use with a rated voltage not exceeding 1000 volts for alternating current, and 1500 volts for direct current.
This directive affects all stationary generator sets with powers below 375 kW in the European Union. Large-scale permanent installations with powers of around 375 kW, with cumulative power of 375 kW and ISO containers above 20 feet would be exempts. An additional 5-year extension of the application of the directive has been set in place, from 22 July 2019, for lead in solders, and for bearings and pistons used in certain internal combustion engines.

STAGE V Lighting Towers
HIMOINSA lighting towers with Stage V engines offer maximum performance and durability in a compact and robust design and are able to withstand the most extreme environmental and working conditions.
Towers with Stage V engines, which comply with European regulations on emissions, with the aim of reducing the generation of pollutant gases; consumption levels and ample running time, with a fuel tank that can guarantee up to 17 nights of uninterrupted work without refuelling (depending on the model), and a compact and robust design that allows easy handling and transport.

Regulation (EU) 2016/1628
EMISSIONS FROM ENGINES IN NON-ROAD MOBILE MACHINERY
As you are aware, in order to gradually reduce air pollution, Directive 97/68/EC, which established requirements relating to emission limits (stages I, II, IIIA, IIIB and IV) and type-approval procedures for engines for non-road mobile machinery, was adopted in 1997.
In January 2017, Directive 97/68/EC was repealed and superseded by Regulation (EU) No 2016/1628, which establishes emission limits for gaseous and particulate pollutants (known as Stage V) for engines of non-road mobile machinery, as well as administrative and technical requirements relating to type approval. This regulation will affect products marketed from 1 January 2019. However, it provides for a 'transition' period, in which equipment with engines manufactured in 2018, so not Stage V-approved, may be sold.
