Emergency power for the Central Bank of Cyprus

HIMOINSA generator sets safeguard the bank's operations by supplying up to 1,000kVA of stand-by power in the event of a power cut.

In 2011, a problem in one of Cyprus's power stations led to power cuts across the country. Since then, the need for a safe and reliable emergency power source has become a priority for large buildings in Cyprus.

HIMOINSA, through its distributor Royal Engineering, has installed two HDW-460 T5 generator sets in the Central Bank of Cyprus to supply emergency power throughout the building, except for the air conditioning systems.

Every day, numerous government payments are made through this institution and the service can be affected by a prolonged power cut. To ensure that the bank can continue to operate, the generators are ready to work in parallel and can together supply up to 1,000kVA of stand-by power, double the power needs of the building as a whole.

In addition, the generators incorporate a PMG in the alternator, which ensures better load impact regulation and guarantees a more stable and faster response by the generators.

According to Kyriakos Zinieris, Director of Eliodotou & Zineris, the project consultants, “the HIMOINSA solution met the project's high technical requirements and also guaranteed an excellent local service for the installation and maintenance of the units.”

    Other HIMOINSA projects in Cyprus

With a population of around one million, Cyprus has been chosen by Wargaming as the location for its headquarters. The emergency power supply of this Russian video gaming company's impressive building is provided by HIMOINSA generator sets, supplied by Royal Engineering, the HIMOINSA distributor in the country.

The strong economic growth that the island has experienced in recent years has stemmed from an increase in the number of hotels for the tourism industry. This is the case for Hotel Le Meridien, which also has four HIMOINSA HTW-920 T5 generators, with Mitsubishi engines, which can supply up to 3MVA of emergency power.
